"Dedication, passion, and patience, are words that describe Briana Savage. During Summer 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to attend USC’s Bovard Scholars Program where I met Ms. Savage. She was my Classroom Support Coordinator during the program and continued to serve as a resource to me throughout my senior year. During the program, I struggled with self-confidence and imposter syndrome. Ms. Savage constantly reassured me that everywhere I go, there is a reason I am there, and in this case, my selection as a Bovard Scholar was intentional and that I was meant to be there. Throughout the program, Ms. Savage was always so welcoming, and passionate about her beliefs and her purpose in this world, an educator and source of support. I appreciated her advice and guidance, especially as a Black woman who has defeated odds in society. Ms. Savage is my role model and I know that if she can make it and become someone in this world, I can too."

"As a senior in high school, going through the college application process was quite overwhelming. I am grateful to have had Briana Savage as my personal consultant and mentor to help guide me through this challenging and exciting time. She provided a clear and structured plan that kept me on track to meet all the application deadlines. While applying to over a dozen schools nationwide, Briana’s experience in knowing what universities are looking for in a writing response that sets a student apart were invaluable. After interviewing me and learning of my high school experiences and extra curriculars, she advised me on what to focus on in my responses to the writing prompts. She helped me bring to life on paper all of my academic accomplishments and personal experiences in a way that really expressed who I am as person and as a student. My responses were honest, raw and passionate and could be felt by the application reader at the university level.
Throughout the entire process I felt Briana’s support and encouragement. She was a friend who listened and shared her experiences as well as a coach who provided clear direction and her expertise. She was a motivator and kept me grounded through the entire rollercoaster of the college application process.
Thank you, Briana, for your role in helping me get accepted into my dream school!"

"I have had the great pleasure of working with Briana Savage as a fellow LAUSD third grade teacher. In all my years of teaching I have never seen a long-term substitute teacher demonstrate the kind of dedication to her craft, as well as to the academic and social growth of her students, as Briana. She always went above and beyond by purchasing classroom materials and rewards to provide her students with the best education possible and to encourage them to maximize their potential. I was especially impressed with the dedication she displayed in developing a rapport with each of her students, as individuals. This was particularly evident in how the most challenging students responded positively to her. In the short amount of time that she worked with her class, she forged a remarkable and lasting impact on her students who, years later, still ask me how Ms. Savage is doing. The fact that she still remembers her students by name and asks me about them says all you need to know about the character professionalism of Briana Savage."

Her dedication to being an elementary school teacher and mentor to collegiate student-athletes, while also pursuing a Ph.D. shows her commitment to becoming a fierce higher education administrator.
